The Mille Miglia (One Thousand Miles) is a sports car race which was was
held on public roads in northern Italy between 1927 and 1957. Despite
the political taints of its early organisers it has become a part of
Italian culture and the world culture of motoring enthusiasts. It was an
event that brought together exciting fast cars, the Italian countryside
and the Italian people in a truly soul stirring event. It lives on as a
huge annual classic car rally.
